"Toz"
6-8-96 to 9-7-2010

It is with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to Toz our first PWD. At 14 she still ruled with a velvet paw and was queen of her domain. On Friday, at our romp in the dog park, she ran after and kept in line 9 of her progeny (plus a Brittany) as was her custom. On Sunday she was not doing well.
Ch Brieahndriftwood’s XS, NA NAJ was a dog of “firsts”. Our first PWD, our first show dog, first show – 4 pt major, produced our first litter, ( including BIS Ch Afortunado Seasideloveaffair - #1 PWD 2001 & 2002),our first agility dog and most definitely first in our hearts. She was a very dignified dog from the beginning – no paper eating for her, that and countersurfing were “beneath her”. She would tattle on anyone that did! She chose who and when she was petted and was truly a lady of grace. I know I will cry again when my “Courier” arrives as the cover picture is her son “Aidan” and he is so like his mother. I thank her for all the joy she has brought to our lives and I know that thought is echoed by the many people around the country who have a piece of her in her children, grandchildren, great -grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. Never did we dream 14 years ago how such a little puppy could change our world. Thank you Toz.

Sweet Toz as a puppy

Even with a novice handler, Toz happily sailed through the demands of any agility course

Romping at the dog park with the porties - All of them related in some way to our Toz!

Taken when Toz was 12, it is wonderful to think she never missed a day to romp with the dogs and had no trouble keeping up with them and keeping the naughty ones in line when needed! She is at the far left of this photo.

Mother and Son

These two were so similar in look and temperament, we often had trouble telling them apart. Aidan misses his mother's help in keeping order amongst all those younger, naughtier dogs!

In 2006, Toz made the trip to Rend Lake, Illinois for the National Specialty and won first place in her class at Veteran's Sweeps. As you can see, I was thrilled. What a happy day!!

Toz made her presence known in the BOB ring as she vied for Best Veteran at the 2006 National Specialty. We didn't win, but my old girl was tireless in her enthusiasm and if they were giving out ribbons for the happiest dog in the ring, she would have been the winner without a doubt!

In 2009, our National Specialty was once again in Rend Lake, Illinois and Toz was ready for the trip. She was so proud to be once again in the Breed ring showing in both Regular Veterans and Veteran Sweepstakes.

She just knew she was the most beautiful dog in the ring that day. Way to go, old girl!

Let's go around again!

Final lineup and she is still going strong. I was so proud of her that day.

Our Grand Lady. Miss Toz. You are missed. Always.
